The Benjamin Franklin Parkway is part of Philadelphia's 9,200 acre park system, and the proud host to the many museums, festivals and beautiful landscape of this iconic boulevard. Philadelphia Parks & Recreation (PPR) is responsible, in partnership with many organizations, for the Parkway’s maintenance and capital needs. All festivals and special events, such as Welcome America July 4th festivities, Made in America Concert, Philadelphia Marathon, and the Thanksgiving Day Parade are permitted through PPR.
Located at the beginning of the Parkway, LOVE Park bears the official name of JFK Plaza, and is adjacent to Suburban Station commuter rail, SEPTA subway and bus transfers for easy public transportation access. The plaza takes its colloquial name "LOVE Park" from Robert Indiana’s iconic LOVE statue. In addition to the statue, the park features a dramatic fountain, multiple seating areas, large beds of beautiful seasonal plantings and the Fairmount Park Welcome Center (currently undergoing extensive renovation).
Every Summer from May to October, LOVE Park offers free noon time concerts Monday thru Friday! Local artists showcase their talent under the sun for mid-day free concerts. Bands interested in participating, or for an online schedule please visit www.LOVEPark.pl and look for the Summer in LOVE link for more information.
Weekdays, the famous food trucks of Philadelphia offer breakfast and lunch.
